Championships and Grand Prix tournaments around Oslo 11

Many open tournaments around Oslo carry the Grand Prix name, and several belong to Norges Grand Prix, the federation's series of rated events that clubs run on their own evenings and weekends: Bærumslynet and Bærumsrappen in Bærum Idrettspark, Rustadlynet at Rustad skole, the NTG Lyn-GP and Hurtig-GP in Bekkestua, Nordstrand GP at Lambertseter gård and Stjernen's Freestyle NGP.

The district holds its championships too: open Oslo championships in lightning and rapid chess, the Oslo championship for children and youth, the school-teams championship each March, the Trygve Waage Cup for club teams of young players and the open championship for girls and women. Norway Chess was played at Deichman Bjørvika in 2026, with open side events.
